Intensive Sex Addiction Treatment Program
Intensive, Trauma-Informed Sex Addiction Treatment Designed to Accelerate Recovery
If you’re struggling with compulsive sexual behavior, pornography addiction, infidelity, or sex addiction, you may feel trapped in a cycle of secrecy, shame, and repeated attempts to stop on your own. Many people come to treatment believing they’re fundamentally broken or destined to repeat the same behaviors for the rest of their lives.
We don’t see you that way.
At New York Pathways, we believe lasting recovery begins by understanding your story—not by judging it. Our Sex Addiction Intensive Treatment Program provides an immersive, structured, and trauma-informed approach to recovery that helps clients make significant progress in weeks rather than months.
Rather than focusing only on stopping behaviors, we help clients understand the emotional, relational, and psychological factors that contributed to those behaviors while providing the practical tools necessary to build a life of lasting recovery.
Intensive Sex Addiction Treatment That Goes Beyond Weekly Therapy
Traditional weekly therapy can be highly effective, but there are times when a more concentrated approach can dramatically accelerate the recovery process.
Our Intensive Recovery Program provides two to three individual therapy sessions each day, five days a week, for approximately four weeks. This coordinated treatment model often allows clients to accomplish in one month what may otherwise take many months of traditional weekly therapy.
Each intensive is individually designed around your unique clinical needs, recovery goals, and stage of healing.
A Coordinated Team Working Together
Unlike traditional therapy, where clients typically work with one therapist, our intensive program provides access to a multidisciplinary team of clinicians working together toward one goal—your recovery.
While every therapist shares the same treatment philosophy, each clinician brings specialized expertise to different aspects of the recovery process.
Depending on your needs, treatment may include:
- Sex addiction and compulsive sexual behavior treatment
- Trauma-informed psychotherapy
- EMDR therapy when clinically appropriate
- Attachment-focused treatment
- Relationship restoration and betrayal trauma work
- Mindfulness and emotional regulation
- Recovery planning and relapse prevention
- Family systems work
- Psychiatric consultation and referrals when appropriate
- Guidance in developing a strong recovery community, including participation in 12-Step programs
Our clinicians communicate throughout your treatment to ensure your care remains coordinated, personalized, and focused on long-term success.
A Structured Recovery Process
Every client receives the New York Pathways Recovery Workbook, developed from years of clinical experience treating sex addiction and compulsive sexual behavior.
The workbook serves as the foundation of the intensive, helping clients organize their recovery, develop practical skills, strengthen accountability, identify relapse patterns, and continue making progress long after the intensive has ended.
Rather than wondering what comes next, clients leave treatment with a clear roadmap for recovery and concrete tools they can immediately begin applying in their daily lives.
A Trauma-Informed Approach
At New York Pathways, we are deeply committed to trauma-informed care.
While not every client has experienced trauma, many discover that compulsive sexual behaviors developed as attempts to cope with emotional pain, attachment injuries, loneliness, chronic stress, or other difficult life experiences.
Instead of asking, “What’s wrong with you?”, we ask, “What happened, and how did these behaviors come to serve a purpose?”
That shift in perspective changes everything.
Understanding the function of addictive behaviors often replaces shame with self-awareness and creates the foundation for meaningful, lasting change.
Our therapists combine compassion with accountability. Clients are supported, understood, and respectfully challenged to examine denial, practice rigorous honesty, build healthy relationships, and take responsibility for their recovery.
From Shame to Hope
One of the greatest transformations we witness is not simply the reduction of addictive behaviors—it’s the transformation of how clients see themselves.
Many people begin treatment believing they are bad people who simply lack willpower.
As treatment progresses, they begin to understand something profoundly different.
They recognize that they are not defined by their addiction. They gain insight into how their behaviors developed, develop healthier ways of coping, and begin replacing secrecy and shame with honesty, connection, and hope.
Clients leave treatment with more than symptom relief.
They leave with:
- A deeper understanding of themselves and their recovery
- Reduced shame and greater self-awareness
- Practical tools to maintain long-term recovery
- A personalized recovery plan
- Increased accountability
- A supportive recovery community
- Confidence that meaningful change is possible
Our Philosophy
One of the things we often tell clients is:
Our job is to help you reach the point where you no longer need us.
We think of ourselves as scaffolding.
Our role is to provide structure, education, accountability, and support while you build a strong foundation for recovery. As that foundation grows stronger, the scaffolding gradually comes down, leaving you with the skills, relationships, and confidence to continue your recovery long after treatment has ended.
Recovery is not about becoming perfect.
Recovery is about becoming honest, connected, accountable, and willing to grow—one day at a time, one step at a time.
